This 26-piece hand-felted letter set is a beautiful, tactile tool for learning through play.
The warm, natural-hued letters can be used in multitude of hands-on ways, that go way beyond basic alphabet recognition. For example, sorting, categorising, spelling, matching and letter-sound activities are all brought to life with this handmade, textured resource!
Each letter is approximately 8cm in height and the kit contains all 26 letters of the alphabet in a variety of natural hues.
Letter recognition with lowercase letters is the best way to start teaching the alphabet as its the most common way we see it.

Hand crafted by a women’s fair-trade co-operative in Nepal, our Papoose felt collection brings texture, warmth and beauty to the lives of children and their play. Each piece is lovingly made using 100% natural wool products and non-toxic, biodegradable dyes. Due to their handmade nature, each item may vary slightly, adding to its individual character.

- Filled with wool only, no synthetic fillers or wire.
- Letters are approx. 8 cm tall

- Supervision is required for all children under 4 yeas
- As with all our beautiful handmade items, variations may occur from the image with each piece having its own unique characteristics.
Sample Activity
Age: 18 months +
Benefits: Language and literacy skills, letter recognition, phonics, grouping skills
Activity: For this activity you will select one letter from the felted alphabet and go on a scavenger hunt around your house as you help your little one find one or more items that start with that letter's sound.
- Firstly, show them the letter and encourage them to hold, touch and explore it. (Some babies may even like to try and trace the shape of the letter with their finger).
- Name the letter: "This is the letter "B". It makes the /b/ sound. (Fun fact: /b/ is what's known as a phoneme: a visual symbol to represent one specific linguistic sound)
- Highlight the sound: Show how you use your mouth and tongue to form the sound.
- Talk about what you might look for: "Let's go find something that starts with "B": A ball?! A book?! A bag?!"
- Consolidation: Bring back all the items you have collected and talk about the sound and letter again, encouraging your little one to touch the letter and try to mimic the sounds you make.
- Resolution: Help them internalise the experience with some free play time with the objects.

- Orders $150 AUD or over: FREE standard shipping
- Orders under $150 AUD: Weight-based shipping, calculated at checkout
- EXPRESS POST:
- $21.00 small parcel - up to 1.5 kg
- $35.00 large parcel - over 1.5 kg
All items are shipped by Sendle OR Australia Post.
Your order could take up to 10 business days to arrive, depending on destination. Parcels going to metropolitan addresses are often delivered within 4 days of dispatch. We will notify you when your order has been dispatched.
International Shipping
We offer international weight-based shipping to most countries outside of Australia. Shipping calculated at checkout.
All items are shipped by Sendle OR Australia Post.
International delivery timeframe: allow up to 35 business days from when your order is shipped. We will notify when your order is dispatched.
*PLEASE NOTE we have found that due to Covid 19 there have been significant delays for international shipping beyond our control.
