Developmental Benefits: Motor Skills, Sensory Processing, Hand-Eye Coordination, Creativity, Social-Emotional Skills, Language Skills, Cognitive Development, Independent Play

Between 15-18 months your toddler increasingly understands that they are a separate person from you, with their own preferences, feelings and ideas. This brings about a whole new set of cognitive skills. This is a prime opportunity to let them explore their own ideas, thinking and creativity.

This learning bundle, curated especially for toddlers aged 15-18 months, is designed to provide new learning experiences, and promote self expression, exploration and language skills.

These curated early learning toys will really help your toddler gain independence, build creativity and make connections to their world. They have been specifically selected to align with the Early Years Learning Framework.

What's Included?

The “Me, Me, Me” bundle includes:

  1. Honey Beeswax Natural Crayons
  2. Wooden Tree House
  3. Papoose Gnomes
  4. Two Little Ducklings Body Parts & Clothing Flash Cards
  5. Option to include Happy Little People: The Second year Activity Card Deck
Benefits for Baby

Start the day with a splash of colour and creative play with the all-natural eco Honeysticks Crayons, made in New Zealand from 100% pure beeswax and food grade pigments. These short and stubby crayons have been designed specifically for 1-3 year olds and are easy for little hands to grasp. Crayons open up a whole world of benefits for our little ones. Fine and gross motor strength, sensory processing, pencil grasp, line awareness, hand-eye coordination, dexterity, endurance, self-confidence, creativity, task completion, and learning objectives like colour identification and colour matching are just a few of the benefits of using this classic learning tool.

Collect 4–6 uniquely different leaves. Tape them to one side of a big piece of white piece of paper, so that the most textured side is face-down on the paper. Flip the paper over. Offer your little one the Honeysticks Crayons and show them how to gently rub the side of the crayon over the paper to magically reveal the imprint of the leaves. They will think it’s amazing to watch the leaves come to life on the blank paper!

Introduce your little one to the super adorable Papoose Gnomes. These 7 little gnomes are the perfect inhabitants of any small world your bubba could possibly dream up. These open-ended characters would be right at home in any farm, countryside or fairytale setting, and can even be used to represent characters from a favourite storybook, or members of your own family (which colour would you be?). By playing with these gnomes your little one will develop their social skills, empathy, compassion and imagination. They are able to practice and play out different scenarios that they experience in the real world.

If you are playing together, this is a perfect opportunity to encourage language skills. For example, during gnome play you could make comments and introduce the occasional “where, what, who” encourage conversation with your little one. It can also be a fantastic way to talk about social norms, such as how to knock at the door and say "hello!" and "goodbye!".

Encourage your little one to explore and create with our Wooden Tree House. We love this tree house because, unlike many static dolls houses out there, your little one can actually manipulate the design of this one, letting their imaginations run wild! And it will be a toy that will be played with for YEARS! (My 6 year old still plays with hers all the time). The platforms can be set up in different positions. The house, ladder, well and furniture can all be moved around freely.

This tree house is designed to be enjoyed from all angles, allowing your little one to move around it 360 degrees, playing from different perspectives and engaging physically in their play. Apart from supporting your little one's cognitive development, playing with a wooden tree house can also assist language skills, as they experiment with words and phrases they hear in everyday life. They may mimic how grown-ups talk and act. As they grow older they may also recreate or re enact stories, building the connections between written and spoken language. Motor skills are also developed, because your child is actively engaged in physical play as they move the objects and characters around.

For this activity, provide your toddler with a few extra toys to complement the tree house. Try not to dictate how they play, or impose a set of objectives on the process. Fostering independent open-ended play works because it is fun and not structured, setting it apart from other aspects of your child's life. So let your little one take the lead, just sit near by and let them “talk” to you, their imaginary friends or to whomever it is in the world that they are creating.

Finish the day in an interactive way and further develop language, memory recall and recognition skills with the Two Little Ducklings Body Parts & Clothing Flash Cards. Flashcards are a fantastic tool. They are portable, efficient, and versatile. Howard Gardner, an American developmental psychologist suggests that each individual has a distinct learning style. He categorised them into three main areas – visual, auditory and kinaesthetic. Using flashcards not only helps to develop and improve the connection of synapses in your child’s developing brain, it also appeals to various learning styles.

Select one of the cards - let's say "Legs" - and show it to your little one. Talk about what you see in the picture. Then ask them to point to their legs, your legs and maybe even the legs of one of their dolls. Then you could draw various legs on a piece of paper and encourage them to also draw what legs look like. Finally, look through some picture books and ask your little one to point out the legs that they see in the books.

Extend your day of play with the Happy Little People: The Second Year Activity Card Deck. This card deck gives you 52 stimulating activities that are designed to bring out the best of learning and development for bubbas aged 12 to 24 months (and beyond). Use these cards to fill your day with inspiring play—and hopefully wear your little one out!
